Real ADHD Support vs. AI Noise: How to Tell the Difference

The ADHD Content Boom (and the Problem With It)
If you’ve searched for ADHD tips lately, you’ve probably noticed something: the internet is flooded with advice. From TikToks and trending “neurodivergent hacks” to blog posts and email lists, it feels like everyone’s talking about ADHD now.

And while awareness is a good thing, it also comes with a downside; not all ADHD content is created equal.

Much of what’s out there is:

  • Surface-level

  • Written by AI tools or marketers with no real ADHD experience

  • Focused on dopamine hits, not long-term change

If you’ve tried some of these tips and felt frustrated when they didn’t work… you’re not alone. And you’re not broken.
You just need support that’s made for your brain.

Why Experience Matters in ADHD Coaching
Real ADHD coaching isn’t about throwing productivity hacks at you and hoping something sticks.
It’s about understanding how your brain processes time, emotion, and energy—and building systems that work with those patterns.

That’s why I created Prosthetic Executive Function™, a trademarked method designed to serve as your external brain.

But this isn’t just theory.
Before becoming a coach, I spent over 15 years in the mental health field and 6 years as a special education teacher. I’m also a licensed psychotherapist, a Certified Clini-Coach®, and an ADHD Certified Clinical Service Provider. Oh, and I live with ADHD too.

So when I give advice, it’s based on:

  • Clinical insight

  • Educational frameworks

  • Coaching expertise

  • Lived experience

Not just what sounds good on a carousel post.

How to Spot Real ADHD Support
Not sure who to trust online? Here are a few quick tips to help you spot the real thing:

  • Check their credentials. Do they have training in mental health, coaching, or education?

  • Look for lived experience. Are they speaking from ADHD, not just about it?

  • Notice the tone. Real ADHD support will never shame you. It will feel encouraging and practical.

  • Beware of oversimplification. ADHD is complex. Be cautious of anyone promising “one trick that fixes everything.”

  • Ask: Does this feel sustainable? True support helps you create systems that last.
