Why Krista’s Professional Background Sets Her Apart as an ADHD Coach
By Krista Kilbane, LCSW, ADHD CCSP, Certified Clini-Coach®
When it comes to finding the right ADHD coach, credentials matter—but lived experience matters even more. In today’s world of AI-generated content and trending productivity hacks, it’s easy to find surface-level advice. But for adults navigating the complex realities of ADHD, what they need is a trusted guide—someone who understands both the science and the soul of this condition.
That’s where I come in.
A Professional Foundation Rooted in Mental Health & Education
I’ve worked in the mental health field for over 15 years, and I hold a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Texas (1996). I became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in 2005 and spent over six years as a certified Special Education Teacher in Texas, where I supported students with learning differences, behavioral challenges, and ADHD.
This background gave me a deep understanding of neurodivergent learners and the systemic challenges they face. What began in my classroom as support for neurodivergent students has evolved into the proven systems I now use with adults in my ADHD coaching practice.
Real-Life ADHD Experience: I Live What I Teach
When my son was diagnosed with ADHD in the third grade, our world changed. I dove into research, learned everything I could—and in the process, discovered I also had ADHD.
My diagnosis helped me make sense of a lifetime of overwhelm, emotional dysregulation, and executive function struggles. It also ignited my passion to create something better. I knew I didn’t want another app or planner—I needed a system.
I created the Prosthetic Executive Function™ method to capture, organize, and plan in a way that supports the ADHD brain. This became the foundation of my signature coaching system and new online course, Chaos to Clarity.
Specialized Certifications That Set Me Apart
Unlike many coaches with weekend certifications, I’ve completed extensive professional training in both clinical and coaching domains:
Certified Clini-Coach®
ADHD Certified Clinical Service Provider (CCSP)
EFT Level 1 & 2 Practitioner (Emotional Freedom Technique)
HeartMath Clinical Certification
Member of ACEP, AAMET, CHADD, and NASW
This means I blend science-backed strategies, coaching tools, and trauma-informed care into a holistic approach. I know when to lean into systems, when to slow down for emotional regulation, and how to help clients reframe shame and regain confidence.
